Where to? - Honeymoon Help

Priya and I are getting married next week and are trying to determine where we’d like to go on our honeymoon. Obviously, the honeymoon itself will not be happening next week but in the near future, still it’s fun to dream a little now.

So we come to anyone and everyone with a fun question. Imagine you are going on your honeymoon and you could go to one place in Europe and one outside of it, where would you go? And what would you do there? Also if you think there are destinations to avoid based on personal experiences please feel free to share that with us.

  1. Rome, Amsterdam, Athens, maybe Lisbon? any other thoughts out there?

  2. I'm partial to Barcelona and Jerusalem.

I'll have to get my sister to comment, as she has traveled extensively in Europe.

  3. Of course, I'm biased. I love Spain, but if you go leave valuables in the hotel. Pickpockets and purse snatchers all over! Barcelona is a dense, but compact city compared to London. Not as monumental as Madrid, but still has some interesting museums, fun streets for walking. If you want to get off the beaten path, the province of Galicia is nice. I went with a friend and we rented a car. Santiago de Compostela was beautiful, but it's also on the pilgrimage route for the Way of St. James so more people will be visiting it. I still loved it. The coastline has great fishing villages. However, I went years ago--maybe things have changed. Sigh. P.S. They even play bagpipes in Galicia!! http://www.spain.info/en_US/ven/comunidades-autonomas/galicia.html

It depends on what you're looking for--beaches, museums, quaint villages, bustling cities? Jane

  4. Thanks for the advice Jane, we'll keep in mind.

I don't think we've decided exactly what type of vacation we want yet. Beaches sound so good right now while we deal with the bitter London cold. We did talk about Cambodia, bith of us have always wanted to see Angor Wat, but that will take more planing... and money :)

  5. We went to Majorca last year via EasyJet and it was not only beautiful beaches, but also mountains for hiking. It really easy to rent a car and get around, and it's Spain, so pretty cheap. I would recommend that if you're looking for a close getaway.

    1. Thanks Sarah! We'll definitely be looking around and will keep your suggestion in mind. We're definitely more the hiking type.
